For the first time in Croatia there is a facility that can offer a complete service ranging from computer dynamic diagnostics of foot deformations and walking disorders and computer (automatic) manufacture of orthopedic insoles out of dozens of different types of materials to dynamic computer testing of the manufactured orthopedic insoles.

Polyclinic for Orthopedy, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation “Kinematika” is a health facility intended for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of foot diseases and injuries, as well as walking disorders in children, adults, diabetics, rheumatic patients, amateur and professional athletes.

Polyclinic for Orthopedy, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation “Kinematika” is located in Laginjina 16 (DZ Centar) in Zagreb. It was founded on 3 November 1997.

There is a specialized physician working at the Policlinic full-time, along with expert advisers carefully selected amongst top-class specialists in the field of orthopedics, traumatology and sports medicine. Prof. dr. sc. Marko Pećina is a medicinal director of the facility with prof. dr. sc. Gojko Buljat acting as vice-director. Pressure distribution under the plantar surface of the foot during standing and walking on the special platform – the Emed System - is measured electronically for the purpose of dynamic diagnosis of foot deformations and walking disorders.

Following the manufacture of orthopedic insoles, in-shoe loading characteristics of feet (plantar surface) can be tested in some groups of patients, particularly e.g. diabetics. For the purpose of such a test, a specially designed pedar system is placed in the patient’s footwear.

CAD/CAM SYSTEM

Following the completion of diagnostics procedures and after the data has been obtained through the Emed System, the obtained data is transferred to the 3D graphic form by means of digitalization of the patient’s footprint. With the assistance of CAD (Computer Assisted Design) and CAM (Computer Assisted Machine) systems, the orthopedic insole can be 3D designed for each patient individually, according to the decision of the examining physician. The final data on the designed orthopedic insole is then conveyed to the robotic machine, which precisely manufactures the orthopedic insole.

The connection of the Emed System of diagnostics with the CAD/CAM systems is still very rare in the manufacture of orthopedic insoles. The Polyclinic for Orthopedy, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation “Kinematika” in Zagreb is one of the few facilities in Europe that can offer such a wide range of services from computer diagnostics and computer (automatic) manufacture of orthopedic insoles to in-shoe computer testing of the manufactured insoles.

The manufacture of orthopedic insoles out of dozens of types of different materials after the analysis of the loading characteristics of the feet and testing of the manufactured insoles during walking, all with the assistance of complex analysis and robotic machines, is possible only in the Polyclinic for Orthopedy, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation “Kinematika”.
